Kathy H. English is a visionary leader, entrepreneur, and community advocate whose influence has reshaped the natural hair care industry in Detroit and beyond. She is the Founder and CEO of Alotta Locs™️, Detroit’s premier luxury natural hair care studio specializing in loc cultivation, maintenance, and holistic hair wellness. A licensed beauty professional, master loctician, beauty instructor, published author of two books “Into To Starter Locs: A Beginner’s Guide” available on Amazon , and Salon Etiquette and podcaster, Kathy has built a brand anchored in excellence, authenticity, and impact.

A proud Detroit Native, graduate of Wayne State University, first generation business owner! Kathy is a Goldman Sachs Black in Business: One Million Black Businesses (NY) alumni and a proud alumni in TechTown Detroit Retail Bootcamp , reflecting her commitment to innovation, scalable growth, and economic development. Her leadership has been recognized with the Spirit of Detroit Award, Who’s Who in Black Detroit, and City of Detroit  Notable Professional.

As a wife and mother of three daughters, Kathy leads with intention, legacy, and purpose. Through Virtual Loc Academy, salon business consulting, and hands-on mentorship, she has created clear pathways for beauty entrepreneurs—developing skilled professionals through apprenticeships, she’s developed workforce programs, and skilled-trade education that generate sustainable careers and jobs within the community.

Her expertise attracts an international clientele from the U.S., Canada, Ghana, and Zimbabwe. Deeply committed to community uplift, Kathy also offers youth internships that introduce students to entrepreneurship and professional beauty careers. Her mission remains clear: to promote confidence, wellness, and leadership by empowering individuals to embrace and celebrate their natural selves. With a focus on entrepreneurship, leadership, and community impact, she combines real-world experience, motivational insight, and practical tools to inspire growth, elevate confidence, and create lasting transformation for individuals and organizations alike.
