Frequently Asked Questions

 Q: Are all clients required to follow the policies of ALHS?
A: Yes. All clients are required to read and follow all policies and guidelines before booking an appointment. Failure to adhere to these policies and guidelines may result in appointment cancellation. Deposits are non-refundable.


Q: Do you provide loc maintenance services?
A: Yes, we offer a variety of loc maintenance services by appointment only, including reties, retwists, repairs, and styling.


Q: Do you provide loc extension services?
A: No, we do not offer any type of loc extension services.


Q: Do you offer wick services for locs?
A: No, we do not offer this service.


Q: Are you accepting transfer clients?
A: Yes, we are accepting transfer appointments. Walk-ins are not permitted.


Q: What is considered a transfer client?
A: A transfer client is someone who has received loc services from another salon, loctician, or has self-installed, self-combined, or self-maintained their locs. Previous clients who have not been serviced by ALHS for an extended period or who have altered their locs from the original service provided (such as combining or other modifications) may also be considered transfer clients.


Q: I want locs, but how much do they cost and what is the process?
A: We recommend scheduling a loc consultation specific to the loc service you desire. Visit our Instagram page @alottalocs to view different loc types. We do not provide quotes over the phone or through social media. Consultations are by appointment only.


Q: Does my hair have to be clean before a re-tightening appointment?
A: We offer shampoo services, loc spa services, and loc detox treatments as add-on services for appointments.


Q: Are locs permanent?
A: Locs are a natural hair option created using your own hair and can be worn and maintained for as long as you choose to continue your journey.


Q: Do you offer loc take-down services?
A: No, we do not offer this service.


Q: Can you style Sisterlocks, two-strand twists, and starter locs?
A: Yes. Locs are versatile and can be styled to fit your desired look and lifestyle.


Q: Can I cut and color my locs?
A: Yes, once your locs have matured. Everyone’s loc journey is different and recommendations may vary based on your loc condition. We suggest consulting with your loctician before making changes. We do offer loc-cut services; however, we do not provide color services.


Q: Are you currently accepting new clients?
A: Yes, our salon team is accepting new clients by appointment only.


Q: My hair is partially permed. Will I have to cut my hair to start locs?
A: We recommend having at least 3–4 inches of new growth before starting your loc journey. Over time, the permed hair may need to be trimmed to support healthy hair maintenance.


Q: How soon can I wash my locs?
A: Hair should be washed regularly to maintain healthy hair growth. We recommend creating a wash schedule that works best for you. If you are unsure where to begin, consult with your loctician.


Q: Do you take same-day or walk-in appointments?
A: No, we do not offer same-day or walk-in appointments.


Q: Can extensions be added to Sisterlocks if I have short hair?
A: We do not provide loc extension services. If you are considering loc extensions, we recommend seeking a salon that specializes in those services. The Sisterlocks system is designed around your natural hair growth from the root.


Q: Do you offer protective styling for non-loc clients?
A: Yes, we offer two-strand twists, crochet styles, and braids. Shampoo services are included. If we originally provided the style service, takedown services and future appointments may be booked based on stylist availability.
